2008 Diamond Award for Organizational Leadership

REI, Inc.
SeaTac

REI is a hands-on company that wholeheartedly supports its employee’s work and life balance. In 2008, REI was named one of Fortune Magazine’s 100 best companies to work for in America for the tenth consecutive year. REI supports commuters through generous transit and ridesharing subsidies and through innovative teleworking and car sharing programs. At the Kent headquarters, employees take advantage of all the opportunities to make a difference. At the Seattle flagship store, employees are participating in a Human-Powered Challenge Grant to determine the role incentives have in changing commute behavior. REI is an environmentally aware company that integrates the principles of commute trip reduction into its corporate culture through outstanding programs, employee support and management leadership.

*Some definitions: An "ETC" is the staff-level employee transportation coordinator responsible for the daily administration of the transportation program. "SOV" stands for single-occupant vehicle, and "CTR" for commute trip reduction.
