Children’s is deeply committed to providing alternative commute options for its employees. The commitment begins at the top with the CEO who rides in a vanpool with other Children’s executives. Commuting in alternative ways to driving alone is ingrained in the day to day life for the staff at Children’s. The commute program provides a full menu of choices to meet all needs and interests. New in 2007 is a bike sharing program with 10 bikes available for mid-day meetings, an improved employee recognition program and three new full time staffers to work with employees on commute options. Results are impressive with 80% of staff at the downtown research facilities using alternatives to driving alone and 60% at the main campus consistently using an alternative. Children’s is a regional leader in developing employer-driven solutions to the transportation challenges facing Seattle and Puget Sound.
*Some definitions: An "ETC" is the staff-level
