2008 Diamond Award for Organizational Leadership

COSTCO Wholesale
Issaquah

COSTCO Wholesale headquarters, located in Issaquah, offers employees great benefits to encourage vanpooling and carpooling.  About 175 employees are in 50 vanpools and arrive at the Issaquah headquarters each work day along with another 350 employees in carpools. Over 100 employees walk, bike or take the bus to work.  This translates to about 28% of all employees using alternatives at a suburban work site.  COSTCO has great management support and commitment to trip reduction and continues to take a leadership role as they grow their commute program even further.  The long term dedication to financial incentives and support for trip reduction activities make COSTCO a winner.

*Some definitions: An "ETC" is the staff-level employee transportation coordinator responsible for the daily administration of the transportation program. "SOV" stands for single-occupant vehicle, and "CTR" for commute trip reduction.
