AREVA T & D, Inc., Redmond

AREVA T&D Incorporated located in Redmond has a champion in Virginia Southas. She advocates tirelessly for commute options for her employees to achieve a 37% alternative commute mode rate! Virginia has a great attitude and a proven track record.

John Wiltshire
Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems, Redmond

Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems, located in Redmond, has its own outstanding ETC who gets results for the company. John was a key player in implementing Astronics' new commuter incentive program which increased vanpool participation by 11% and carpooling by 6% out of 330 employees. John has been a vanpool rider for over fifteen years.

Donald Hall
Franciscan Health System/St.Francis Hospital, Federal Way

Franciscan Health Systems and St. Francis Hospital located in Federal Way has an ETC who enthusiastically promotes the principles of commuting options to over 900 hospital employees. Don himself takes the bus whenever he can and provides personal testimony to the benefits of commuting by transit.  Don’s 2008 goal for St. Francis is “to continue to develop an even stronger CTR program for managers, new hires and current employees.”

Katey Klump
Sakson and Taylor, Seattle and Redmond

Sakson & Taylor is located in Seattle and performs work in Redmond as a Microsoft vendor. Katey managed to achieve a 59% SOV rate for her company while working with an offsite location only a fraction of the time. Her proactive approach to offering commute solutions makes her a winner. Congratulations!

Peg Randles
Symetra Financial, Bellevue

Symetra Financial, located in Bellevue, has 950 employees with 57% of their affected employees using alternative commute modes.  Peg notes that this is total savings of $1.3 million in driving costs for employees and a whopping 4,488 pounds of CO2 not being released into our air every workday! Symetra is a Best Workplaces for Commuters winner.

*Some definitions: An "ETC" is the staff-level employee transportation coordinator responsible for the daily administration of the transportation program. "SOV" stands for single-occupant vehicle, and "CTR" for commute trip reduction.
