Microsoft has a serious on-going commitment to provide employees with cost effective alternatives to commuting alone. Microsoft operates a transportation demand management program that is available to all Microsoft employees and vendors at all Puget Sound worksites. Its commute program is focused on a dedicated intranet site to provide information on all commuter benefits, including FlexPass program, preferential parking for carpools and vanpools, rideshare matching, campus shuttle services, bike and walking facilities and programs, parking management and many other strategies.
Microsoft is an active participant and partner with the City of Redmond and the Greater Redmond Transportation Management Association, partnering in the “Going for Green” commute incentive program. In 2007, Microsoft implemented a Connector Express Bus Service that includes Wi-Fi access for riders as a major enhancement to their commitment for better transit service. They are an active partner with the cities of Redmond, Sammamish and Issaquah and King County Metro to increase transit service through the Transit Now Partnership.
As a leader in the Puget Sound region and the world in software applications, Microsoft also sets an example of leadership with high levels of commitment and creativity in seeking solutions to reduce congestion and pollution, working collaboratively for the region to be a better place to live. This Diamond Ring Award recognizes Microsoft's leadership.
