Survey data shows that 57% of employees participated in the U-Pass program in 2007 out of 13,900 staff and faculty. Notably, with student usage factored in, data shows that three quarters of the campus population commutes by using an alternative to driving alone. The U-Pass program continues to offer new and creative options for employees at the University. The emphasis on greener alternatives—those with lower environmental impacts, lower carbon emissions and fewer community impacts—results in increased participation on campuses. The U-Pass program is a valuable package of flexible, low cost transportation choices for staff, faculty and students and offers opportunities to make a difference and contribute to a cleaner and greener region. The University of Washington is in the elite of all commute programs with its very focused and compelling plan.
*Some definitions: An "ETC" is the staff-level
