The Diamond Ring Award is richly deserved by a company that has supported trip reduction efforts over many years. As a multiple award winner, CH2M HILL continues to improve its commuting program to get results. This past year, CH2M HILL began an official telework program that now boasts 17 participants. During the winter storms, employees with IT guidance were able to telework effectively and efficiently, which kept the company running smoothly and kept cars safely off the icy roads. The program continually evolves with incentives such as loaner FlexPasses to encourage employees to use public transportation between offices, an employee shuttle bike fleet for those who need to make quick trips during the day, and personalized ridematching assistance. CH2M HILL also offers commuter benefits to its local offices that are not affected by the CTR Law. One hot summer day last year, the company offered ice cream treats to those who could prove they had used an alternative method of commuting to work! Currently, the corporate offices of CH2M HILL are in the process of creating commute programs for other North American offices.
*Some definitions: An "ETC" is the staff-level
employee transportation coordinator responsible for the daily administration
of the transportation program. "SOV" stands for single-occupant
vehicle, and "CTR" for commute trip reduction.
